A year after being seen together in lesser known but well made MAHARATHI, Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah would be coming together again in BOLO RAAM. Directed by first timer Rakesh Chaturvedi, the film also marks the debut of Rishi Bhutani who would be seen as a leading man in BOLO RAAM.
BOLO RAAM is a murder mystery in which the protagonist (Rakesh) is charged with murdering his mother (played by Padmini Kolhapure). While Rakesh suffers from a psychotic disorder and becomes totally silent, it is Om Puri (playing the role of an investigating officer), who takes it upon him to make the protagonist talk again. For this purpose, he takes consults a psychiatrist (Naseeruddin Shah) and together they have a task cut out to solve the mystery.
Even though the film has a few other actors, the entire onus on making BOLO RAAM click at the box office rests with veteran actors Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah since they are pretty much the masters of the game, especially in a thrilling set up like this. Age old friends and students of cinema who started their career almost simultaneously (in middle/late 70s), they have featured in countless movies together.
However, one of their most memorable films together from the earlier days stays on to be ARDH SATYA. On the other hand in recent times, they came up with a bravura performance in Jagmohan Mundhra directed SHOOT ON SIGHT which featured quite a few powerhouse scenes involving them in a face-off of sorts.
One waits to see if the magic is recreated in BOLO RAAM as well which is all set for 31st December release.
