Let's take a ride of Bollywood glam bus of 2009 packed with hot happenings, spicy gossips and half-truths...
Aamir Khan: When every eye was fixed on 'what's new' in store on 'the Aamir -Shah Rukh public leg-pulling' drama, Aamir gave a real surprise this year by joining hands with SRK, as the duo came together to support the film producers' strike against the multiplexes. The two Khans hugged, cracked jokes with each other, giving an impression of 'long lost now found' buddies.
Abhay Deol: Abhay set eyeballs rolling after 'Masakali' Sonam Kapoor was spotted to be spending quality times with him on the set of Anil Kapoor's production AISHA. The duo were also spotted at a suburban nightclub.
Abhimanyu Singh: After his much-appreciated performance in GULAL, debutant Abhimanyu has reportedly replaced none other than Abhishek Bachchan in Chandra Parakash Dwivedi's next.
Abhishek Bachchan: Bachchan Junior faced a real humiliation at Cannes Film Festival, with the international press running only after his wife and L'Oreal ambassador Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The ignorance reached the limit, when Abhi was sidelined and asked to wait at the end of the Red Carpet while all lenses were only interested in clicking a solo Ash or with the rest of the L'Oreal team. Later this year, he played father to his real life father Amitabh Bachchan in their home production PAA.
Adhyayan Suman: Adhyayan finally shunned off 'Kangana Ranaut's boyfriend' tag this year. And as they say, 'old habits die hard', after dating his JASHNN co-star Anjana Sukhani for some time, Shekhar Suman's boy has gone back to his old flame Megha, daughter of a prominent businessman.
Aftab Shivdasani: After partying ways with Esha Deol, Shamita Shetty and Yana Gupta, Aftab seems to have finally found his lady love in Aamna Shariff this year. He threw lavish parties for Aamna, who has already dated tele actors Shabbir Ahluwalia and Rajeev Khandelwal. The MAST boy is said to have already taken 'blessings' of Aamna's family on their relationship. Career-wise, Aftab is planning to start his production house in 2010.
Akshaye Khanna: Akshaye refused to promote his film SHORTKUT-THE CON IS ON with his co-star Arshad Warsi at IIFA in Macau last June. Reason: He does not like Arshad.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Aishwarya made up with Shah Rukh Khan at Karan Johar's birthday party this year. Things went bitter between the two after SRK replaced Ash with Rani Mukherji in CHALTE CHALTE in 2003.
Ajay Devgan: Ajay ironed his 2-year-old wrinkled relationship with Ram Gopal Verma this year. The two stopped interacting with each other after Ajay blamed Ramu for the failure of RAM GOPAL VERMA KI AAG and said he paid more attention to Nisha (Priyanka) Kothari than his male actors.
Akshay Kumar: Akki jumped off the Lakme Fashion Show stage and had his jeans 'Unbottoned' by wife Twinkle Khanna. Result: Twinkle and Akki were 'arrested' on charges of obscenity. However, Akki said 'no handcuffs' were involved in the incident.
Amitabh Bachchan: This year too Amitabh continued criticizing every journalist for every piece of news on him. Though he claims that his star aura cannot be affected by 'fair or unfair' treatment of the media, his blog suggests just the opposite. And just as the year was about to end, he came up with his act of a 13-year-old Progeria patient in his home production PAA. Throughout the film Big B danced, beat his chest, giggled like a teenager (unlike a real Progeria patient), wearing an ET-like look. Special mention: He made Ben Kingsley sit next to him at the premiere of the film.
Amisha Patel: This year Amisha decided to go for a live-in relationship with beau Kanav Puri.
Amrita Arora: While the tinsel town was still red with Amrita Arora's affair with UK-based Usman Afzal, the hottie tied knot with Shakeel Ladak this March. While Shakeel's first wife continued to complain that Amy stole her husband, she went around giving media bytes on 'how wonderful' she feels to get married!
Amrita Rao: Amrita dropped her 'behenjee' (sister-like) look and also lots of clothes this year. Fashion designer and her old friend Manish did the makeover of the year. The result: we got a sexy, hot avatar of Amrita, completed with plunging necklines, hot pants and perfect make-up.
Anil Kapoor: This year Anil continued to shine in the SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE glow. He got signed for America's biggest series '24', danced with joy at Golden Globes and Screen Actor Guild's Awards, touched Anthony Hopkin's feet, introduced Irrfan Khan to Angelina Jolie, upstaged Hugh Jackman at Oscars and came out with the 'secret affair' of Frieda Pinto-Dev Patel. In short, Anil did everything to be in news this year.
Arbaaz Khan: Arbaaz turns producer with DABANGG starring brother Salman Khan
Arjun Rampal: Arjun welcomed controversies this year, after he confessed that he had once entered an 'Agiyari'-a Parsi fire temple (where only people from the community can enter)-out of curiosity in his childhood. The price of childhood fancy cost him dear as the community took offence at his statement.
Arshad Warsi: Arshad's 10-year-old marriage with Maria Goretti hit the rocks this year, with the actor busy with his shooting schedules and Dia Mirza. However, now Arshad is making as many public appearances possible with Maria to suggest to the media that 'All is Well'.
Asin: The GHAJINI girl surely got lucky this year too. If one Khan (Aamir) gave her a successful break in Bollywood, media buzz said the other Khan (Salman) got the Southern siren a new house in Mumbai. As usual, Asin denied the news and said: "I earn enough to look after myself."
Ayesha Takia: Ayesha's father-in-law and politician Abu Asim Azmi asked her to wear a 'burkha' (traditional Islam outfit) while campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections this year. As a result, Ayesha and her restaurateur husband Farhan are moving to a new house.
