It was a little more than half a decade back when Shahid Kapoor had made his big screen debut as a leading man in ISHQ VISHK. Now he returns with the director of the same film, Ken Ghosh, in CHANCE PE DANCE which arrives this January. With diverse films like KAMINEY, VIVAH and JAB WE MET in the interim, it seems like quite some journey traversed by Shahid who was first seen on the big screen as a background dancer in TAAL.
"Well yes, this indeed has been a long journey and a proud one at that. This has enabled me to find my own true character", smiles Shahid, "The struggle, the falls that I have had, the trials and the tribulations, the entire facing the world, living off on measly resources - it has taught me a lot. Today when I look back at the years gone by, I get quite emotional. I have finally found myself. I have grown from being a boy to a man."
Growing from being a boy to a man - now why does he say that?
"That's because today I know the kind of films that I want to be a part of", he describes, "Not that I am the only one who has been able to do that. Most of us try to explore our career and our real self on our own. Perhaps a few who have resources and fortunate enough manage to do that with the help of their dads. I am sure though that quite a few amongst them also want to stand up on their own two feet rather than depending upon their parents. As someone who started of really raw years back, I have moved ahead step by step. I have found a good direction in my career."
