For last few days there have been speculations abound if Neil Nitin Mukesh will have two of his films clashing at the box office this March. Reason? As per some trade sources, both AA DEKHEN ZARA (earlier titled FREEZE) and NEW YORK have been listed for a 27th March release. It seemed feasible too considering NEW YORK has been ready and the first look of the film was unveiled months back. On the other hand promotion of AA DEKHEN ZARA has already begun and the makers have already announced 27th March as the D-Day for the film's arrival.
So what's happening, we ask the man of the moment Neil Nitin Mukesh?
''The two films are certainly not arriving on the same day'', Neil dilutes the speculation here, ''It is only AA DEKHEN ZARA for the time being and NEW YORK would be arriving most likely in the month of May. There is no question of any clash whatsoever; why would anyone want that?''
Meanwhile, the young man is looking forward to an eventful year in 2009.
''A lot should happen this year. Though after JOHNNY GADDAAR, for some it seemed like a lull in 2008, the fact is that I was slogging myself working on multiple films. I finished AA DEKHEN ZARA, NEW YORK as well as TERA KYA HOGA JOHNNY. In fact TERA KYA HOGA JOHNNY is already making festival rounds and should be coming in June/July. So you see, I have a release every two months'', smiles Neil.
What's the status on JAIL?
''We begin shooting in a couple of weeks. I have been doing my homework with Madhurji (Bhandarkar) by making rounds of some real jails in the country. That should help me prepare well for the role. It's certainly going to be quite tiring in days to come, what with shooting of JAIL and promotional drive of AA DEKHEN ZARA during the same time period. But hey, I don't mind that at all. It should all be exciting'', says Neil with that promising glint in his eyes.
