International collaboration (Warner Bros.), some of the best names from the Indian film fraternity coming together (Ramesh Sippy, Rohan Sippy), one of the biggest Bollywood stars (Akshay Kumar), foreign locations (China, Thailand) - these are some of the factors that make CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA a big film indeed. Still, director Nikhil Advani doesn't shy away from admitting that at the heart of it, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA still remains to be a hardcore masala entertainer.
'In fact there is no other way to describe it', admits Nikhil who has left the debacle of SALAAM E ISHQ behind and moved on while gaining all the experience, 'Yes, the film has elements like Kung Fu and some never seen before locations from China, it has been shot on a large scale (thanks to Warner Bros. and my wonderful producers), it has comedy, you know the works. But still, it is an entertainer nevertheless!'
He goes on to add that the film also boasts of a strong emotional quotient to it. 'CC2C has a wonderful emotional backdrop and that is something that would surprise many. People haven't seen Akshay in an emotional film for quite some time now. They have been used to him in movies like SINGH IS KINNG, WELCOME and HEYY BABYY, all of which have been very good entertainers but with comedy as a common thread to them. This is after a long time in that he would be enacting an emotional character and in fact the entire film is driven by the emotions that Sidhu goes through.'
