He may have been an erstwhile assistant to quite a few prominent names in the industry and may have a superhit KAL HO NA HO and a flop SALAAM E ISHQ behind him. Still, it is only after working in CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA that director Nikhil Advani has finally managed to discover himself. And this is something that he admits in his own words as he explains that it has been one long journey for him with a success and a failure that made him come to realize his own style of film making.
'If people would have earlier asked me that what exactly a Nikhil Advani film is, I wouldn't have had an answer. I did work on KAL HO NA HO and SALAAM E ISHQ but it is only after seeing the final print of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA did I really discover the real me. I truly feel that for the first time ever I know my worth as a film maker within myself', says Nikhil Advani in an emotional tone over the phone as he globe totters for the multiple premiers of his film.
He is also happy that he had people like Ramesh Sippy, Rohan Sippy and Mukesh Talreja being with him throughout the making of the film. While Sippys have been the veterans in the industry, Mukesh Talreja is relatively new, something that worked in Nikhil's favour.
Details Nikhil, 'Since Sippys have been there for more than three decades, they understand the finer nuances of film making and come up with great suggestions and improvements. On the other hand Mukesh being someone who is relatively newer sees the film as an audience and comments like a filmgoer would. Since they came with different perspectives altogether, it only helped CC2C become better.'
