Guess the Indian connection in SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is not just restricted to Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and Saurabh Shukla. Another strong Indian connection in this Danny Boyle film is a child actor who made a great impression in TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. No, we are not talking about Darsheel Safary here but the boy who played his close confidante Rajan Damodaran. Tanay Chheda is the boy in question who was shown as Darsheel's friend in the boarding school. Though he was nowhere to be seen in the first half of the film, Tanay had quite some screen presence in the second half where he also had a few scenes to enact with Aamir Khan.
Well, working in big projects continues for Tanay as he would next be seen in SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. He plays the part from the earlier days of central protagonist Jamaal and while Dev Patel is there from start to finish of the movie as he narrates his childhood tale, Tanay comes into picture once the drama shifts from the youngest Jamaal (played by Ayush Mahesh Khedekar) to the teenage Jamaal.
Tanay, who has come up with a very impressive act in SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE as a boy from the slums who tries to find his bearings in his growing up years and avoids the road of crime by doing petty jobs all over the country, has been nominated in quite a few award ceremonies internationally with most prominent and prestigious being Black Reel (Best Ensemble), Screen Actors Guild Awards (Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture).
Also seen earlier in Shah Rukh Khan starrer DON - THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN, Tanay is expected to feature in quite a few major projects after the international success of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.
