CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA may have been getting flak from the critics all over but final verdict from the audience is still awaited. The weekend had decent collections to show due to advance booking factor and now the real test is to see how the film performs over the week. Meanwhile Rohan Sippy, the producer of the film, maintains that Akshay was always kicked about the subject before the beginning of the shoot and moreover also keen on the Chandni Chowk element.
''Akshay had really liked the script and read through it a quite a few times to fine the language bit. Since he comes from Delhi, he could add on some finer nuances. He was excited to do the part the way it was written though he was keen to focus on the Chandni Chowk element. He did provide quite a few inputs on this and had number of suggestions for the language part as well'', says Rohan who has worked with Akshay Kumar for the first time.
There have been accusations that Akshay has interfered during the making of the film.
''I disagree'', Rohan nods his head here, ''In fact he brought in such lovely ideas on the sets. He has an exemplary comic timing and that is being appreciated by audiences as well who are watching the film.''
Though some believe that marketing of the film wasn't up to the mark, Rohan has a defense in place. ''It sounded great at the conceptual level itself, something that helped us bring on the momentum for the release. We did manage to fetch a global presence, isn't it? No matter what strategy we would have taken for the marketing, we knew that the kind of content we had in hands was huge.''
