RAAZ THE MYSTERY CONTINUES and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
It's going to be an exciting weekend for movie buffs with two contrasting films RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE releasing today. While the former is massy, latter is classy.
Talking about the Emraan Hashmi starrer, it should see an okay opening in the morning/afternoon shows with around 50% occupancy but should certainly touch 100% during the night shows. Since Bhatt/Hashmi factor has seldom failed and Mohit Suri has been known for his quality cinema, there are all chances that the film would live up the good expectations. And if that happens, there won't be any stopping for this reasonably well budgeted film (~15 crores) to do well over the weekend and forward.
Moreover, a couple of key scenes from the film have been released on internet prior to the theatrical release that has only helped create further hype for RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES. One of them features first ever interaction between Emraan and Kangna in an elevator where Emraan shares his fears to Kangna about something really wrong that is expected in her life. Another key sequence sees Kangna dressing up in front of the mirror, only to see her mirror image turn into a ghost that further goes on to write the key phrase of the film - 'Tum Ashuddh Ho, Sadh Chuke Ho'.
On the other side SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE too should take a good start at multiplexes, its key audience. Ten Oscar nominations has only added on the hype at just the right time for this Danny Boyle directed film that is releasing in both English and Hindi.
Nevertheless, neither RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE should cut into each other's business and eventually keep its investors happy.
As for AASMAA - THE SKY IS THE LIMIT, the other release of the week, it is completely unknown with hardly a saleable name. With zero promotion and zilch buzz/hype, it's an absolute non-starter all the way.
