Amrita Rao has worked with many established film makers in the past. Sooraj Barjatya (VIVAAH), Rajkumar Santoshi (THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH), Raj Kanwar (AB KE BARAS), Indra Kumar (MASTI, PYAARE MOHAN) and Shyam Benegal (WELCOME TO SAJJAPUR) are some of the top names that she has been associated with. However, when it comes to working in a film that is being helmed by first timers, they have been far and few.
In the past there have been two such film makers - Ken Ghosh (ISHQ VISHK) and Farah Khan (MAIN HOON NAA). Both the films were quite successful at the box office. And now she returns with Ajitpal Mangat for VICTORY. One is immediately led to ask her about the criteria that she sets for herself before giving a go ahead to a project with a first time director?
'Before consenting to a first time director, the first and foremost thing that I look for is the script. There are all kind of projects that have come my way and I look forward to that strong factor that could carry all of us; the kind of support that could help the film to sail through', says Amrita who would soon be seen in Neeraj Vora directed SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON.
Elaborating on the pillar of support that she looks for in a film, Amrita divulges, 'It could be anything, be it a producer or an actor or a director; but at least one strong factor should be there that could support the whole weight of the project. That's because eventually we could have a great project but it may get stuck because of economic factor.'
This Friday sees the release of VICTORY where she plays a medical student hailing from a small town. Even though the film primarily belongs to Harman Baweja and the dozens of cricketers who have consented to be a part of the project, Amrita promises that there is something meaty for her as well that would allow her to showcase her acting skills.
