When Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala were ready with the script of JASHNN, it wasn't given that they would make the film with Vishesh Films, a banner that gave them their first break with THE KILLER. There were other doors open to with different production houses showing interest in making a film with them. However, the co-directors stuck to Bhatt brothers. Raksha Mistry explains why.
''Many people ask us this question whether Vishesh Films was the last resort for us when we decided to make JASHNN. Well, the fact is it wasn't really the case. It wasn't as if this was the only 'darwaza' open, aur bhi kaafi 'darwaze' khule they! It's just that this was a known door here and it made sense for us to go through or rather than experiment elsewhere'', says Raksha Mistry who is keeping her fingers crossed for the 17th July release of her film.
Hasnain Hyderabadwala shares similar sentiments as well.
''We had a good track record with Bhatt saab when we worked with him THE KILLER. Even though that film didn't work, he told us that his doors will always be open for us'', he says, ''In any case they have the reputation of repeating people who show promise. They want high concept with good stories and don't make a film for the heck of making it.''
Both Raksha and Hasnain insist that JASHNN boasts of high concept.
''And add to that, daring as well'', Raksha says, ''These are some of the entry level criteria for Vishesh Films and we are glad that we could offer something to them. The film is indeed daring with some shocking moments in the narrative. Once we spoke about that with Mahesh Bhatt saab, he said that he was in and wanted us to get started right away. It was indeed some time for 'jashnn' for both of us.''
