Believe it or not but Paresh Rawal wanted to play Arshad Warsi's role in SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON. Though he was approached by Anil Kapoor to play another important role in the film, the veteran actor was bowled over by the role that eventually went to Arshad.
''We would have loved to see Paresh as a part of our film'', rues Kapoor, ''We approached him for the role of an 'acting guru cum secretary' which is now being played by Chunky Pandey. However, Paresh was convinced that he could actually do Arshad's part. He was keen to play the role of a bad actor who achieves superstardom. Nevertheless, I am extremely happy with the way final casting has worked out for my film. I am now quite positive that audiences too would find the film as funny and entertaining as we all do'', informed Kapoor.
Incidentally, Akshaye was originally slated to play Arshad's role when Anil Kapoor was also the part of the film. Since Anil Kapoor had to drop out, Akshaye stepped into his shoes and Arshad was introduced in the cast. Considering the fact that Akshaye had made up his mind to play the role of a lovable brat, wasn't it difficult for him to re-look at the film with a different perspective?
''See, Akshaye is such a versatile actor that he could do well in both the roles. He has a sensitive side to him, something that I realized when I worked with him in TAAL. I had complete confidence that he would be convincing in the role of Shekhar too'', Anil Kapoor defends.
Directed by Neeraj Vora (who in the past has directed films like PHIR HERA PHERI and KHILADI 420, SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON has music by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Boasting of a special appearance by both Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt along with leading lady Amrita Rao in a dance number 'Mareez - E - Mohabbat', the film is all set for release this Friday.
