If director duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwaala are to be believed, their JASHNN is indeed an original film unlike their first two efforts - THE KILLER and THE TRAIN.
''Arrey, let's stop bringing on our past work yaar'', laughs Raksha who has been answering the query around the aforementioned films being remakes of Hollywood features, ''The films are gone and we have moved on. At that point, we did what seemed right. After the release of the two films, we are now doing what we feel should be right. So yes, it was a conscious decision to do something original with JASHNN.''
So are they willing to go on record this time around that JASHNN doesn't find it's bearing in any other film belonging to any other language?
''You seem be probing a murder case here'', adds Hasnain mischievously, ''Are you trying to get something out of us that you want to hear? Well, sorry to disappoint you but this time around you won't find any reference material in any other film for JASHNN. The film hasn't been copied or plagiarized from anywhere and neither is it a remake. Please put this on record. This is an out and out original film by us.''
After directing two thrillers, what made them go for a musical this time around?
''See, our strengths actually have been musicals'', he adds, ''We definitely wanted a musical this time around rather than taking a thriller or a comical route. We were sure about the genre and we thought of making a story that had great scope of music. Then we brought in the underdog angle and it all fitted in. We have been underdogs ourselves so we could relate to the story very well.''
Starring Adhyayan Suman, Anjana Sukhani, Shahana Goswami and Humayun Saeed in pivotal roles, JASHNN has music by Toshi & Sharib, Nouman Javaid and Sandesh Shandilya. With music by Kumaar, Nouman Javaid and Nilesh Mishra, the film is all set for release this Friday.
