Jimmy Sheirgill may have delivered two back to back Punjabi blockbusters in the form of TERA MERA KI RISHTA and MUNDE U.K. DE. His TERA MERA KI RISHTA has recently completed a 50 days run while MUINDE U.K. DE too is following suit. However, he is not shifting base to Punjab and would be sticking to doing only one Punjabi film a year.
''This year it was an exception since it was an old commitment to Manmohan Singh, the director of MUNDE U.K. DE. This is the reason why both TERA MERA KI RISHTA and MUNDE U.K. DE came almost simultaneously'', says Jimmy Sheirgill who has been enjoying a golden run at the box office with first A WEDNESDAY and now two Punjabi blockbusters.
Kulraj Randhawa and Neeru Bajwa have been Jimmy's leading ladies in TERA MERA KI RISHTA and MUNDE U.K. DE respectively.
Isn't he contemplating doing more Punjabi films considering the fact that he is now the hottest star actor in the circuit, what with his recent films not just doing great business in the heartland of Punjab but also overseas?
''No, I have no such intentions'', Jimmy shoots back, ''It would primarily be Hindi films for me while Punjabi films would have to be really exclusive. I don't wish to jump the gun and move away from Mumbai.''
Understandably so since after spending close to a decade and a half in the industry, Jimmy is having the best time of his career.
''My upcoming Hindi films do look quite good. Either Karan Johar's MY NAME IS KHAN or Shoojit Sirkar's JOHNNY MASTANA would be my next release. Later this year I also begin shooting for Abhinay Deo's CROOKED. With so much already happening, I have to find empty spaces in my diary to accommodate any more projects'', explains Jimmy who took a resolve close to a couple of years back that he would only be working in prestigious projects.
