There is something about working with actresses belonging to Bengali origin that seems to turn on Neil Nitin Mukesh. Call it mere coincidence but the fact remains that in each of his first three films, he has been paired opposite a Bengali woman.
His first co-star was Rimmi Sen in JOHNNY GADDAAR, his second leading lady was Soha Ali Khan in TERA KYA HOGA JOHNNY (which is yet to be released) while his third heroine is Bipasha Basu in AA DEKHEN ZARA (earlier titled FREEZE). Even in case of his released films, he may well have a hat trick of working with Bengali women if TERA KYA HOGA JOHNNY, which is currently making the rounds of festival circuits, releases soon.
However, that doesn't seem to be the case since soon after AA DEKHEN ZARA, Neil Nitin Mukesh will see the release of NEW YORK. NEW YORK stars Katrina Kaif in the lead and it is yet unclear if she is paired opposite John Abraham or Neil. In any case, his stint of working with Bengali females will certainly be broken once NEW YORK hits the screen. After that, his next release could well be JAIL, the shooting of which is yet to begin. In the film, he has Mugdha Godse, a Maharashtrian, being paired opposite him.
Beyond these films, he is yet to sign a new project and one waits to see if his subsequent films will see the return of a Bengali female all over again.
