Abhijeet Sawant - Now that's one name that is known to almost all of those who put on TV for at least an hour a day. Four years back when he became the first Indian Idol, it was nothing short of hysteria as his name dominated not just the music channels but also mainstream news channels and other entertainment forums. Not to be overwhelmed by instant fame and recognition coming his way, he kept his feet on the ground and continuing his musical journey with albums like AAPKA ABHIJEET SAWANT and JUNOON, both of which proved to be big hits on the stands.
Meanwhile film offers also started pouring in and he signed his first film titled LOTTERY. Launched a little more than a year back, the film is now ready for release.
LOTTERY is the story of a young boy (played by Abhijeet) who comes to Bombay with a dream to make it big and become successful. Looking at being an instant millionaire, he plays a gamble in his life. The journey that he takes to fulfill his ambition forms the storyline of LOTTERY. And no, he doesn't play a singer in the film though he has sung a few songs.
Directed by television director Hemant Prabhu, LOTTERY was supposed to have been released a year back but has been ready only now. LOTTERY features two leading ladies opposite Abhijeet - Rucha Gujarati and Manisha Kelkar - both of whom are making their debut with the film.
The film sees a release this Friday i.e. 20th March and will be facing competition from the likes of ALOO CHAAT, FIRAAQ, STRAIGHT and BARAH AANA.
