A recent newspaper report has indicated that Vishesh Films' next outing JASHN sees the 'comeback' of Mahesh Bhatt as a director. Even though Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala get credited as the co-directors of the film, it has been stated that Mahesh Bhatt took over the realms of direction after being disappointed with the results that were shown to him. Worse, the article seemingly also gets Mahesh Bhatt going on record to agree that he has indeed directed a few key scenes.
When questioned if this indeed was true, Mahesh Bhatt categorically denied either directing the film or even making a statement to this regard.
''It's extremely brutal for the newspaper and the journalist to write something like this inspite of me being specific in my reply about my contribution to JASHN'', says Mahesh Bhatt, ''Yes, I was present on the sets in the capacity of a creative contributor but that's something that I would do for any other film of mine as well.''
''I am skilled enough to aid in whatever way it is possible on the sets but contribution in that manner is completely different from calling the shots'', he adds, ''Otherwise as far as being a director is concerned, I took a 'sanyas' from it long time back.''

Mahesh Bhatt's last directorial outing was exactly a decade back when he directed Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala for Firoz Nadiadwala's KARTOOS (1999).
He also brings in another point of view vis-a-vis his contribution to any project. ''If I actually do something creative, why would I allow someone else to walk away with the credits? If I would have directed JASHN, I would rather have my name as a director for that. On the same lines, since Raksha and Hasnain have indeed directed the film, I will certainly step aside from the crediting.''
But the report does indicate a quote from him stating that he has actually directed a few scenes.
''And that is so surprising and disappointing since I even told the journalist that he won't hear from me what he wants to actually hear. See, I am not into such politics. As a creative head, I step into any project and give directions as appropriate. I would make alterations too in my capacity of being a producer of the film but if that implies that I have turned director with the film, then sorry, your assumptions are completely misplaced'', says Mahesh Bhatt who is standing by his director duo that has earlier made THE KILLER for the same banner in addition to THE TRAIN.

When contacted, Raksha Mistry sounded terribly hurt as well as bitter about the article. ''Seriously, I don't even want to know the origin of this entire episode. I would rather leave it there then get sprayed with more bad blood. It has left a bad taste in my mouth. I am content as far as my conscience is clear and my producers stand by me. I think there can be nobody fairer a man than Mahesh Bhatt.''
Hasnain Hyderabadwala is more relaxed though in his reaction to the situation. ''I am amused. The report says that I was on the sets for three days. Hello, it was the other way round because actually during the entire shoot I was 'not on the sets' for exactly three days since my grand mother had expired. Talk of some investigative reporting here!''
''In fact I am personally calling up people and telling them that JASHN is Raksha-Hasnain's baby'', Mahesh Bhatt has a final word here, ''They have done a fantastic job with the film which is completely ready now. It has turned out to be very well and once the multiplex v/s producers issue is resolved, we will release the film pronto.''
JASHN stars Adhyayan Suman, Anjana Sukhani, Shahana Goswami and Humayun Saeed in the lead with music by Toshi and Sharib.
