KISSAN and MAI AUR MRS KHANNA
While majority of projects are finding it difficult to move ahead in the difficult times that the industry if finding itself in, UTV Motion Pictures has plans to unleash a dozen odd films in the coming months. Just like 2008 which saw a flurry of releases from UTV (with practically each and every film bringing in moolah), 2009 too sees a release-a-month approach. Though the beginning of the year hasn't been impressive with DELHI 6 failing at the box office, DHOONDTE REH JAAOGE has turned out to be a coverage affair.
However, in months to come, there is a lot to look forward to from the movie making house which will restart it's campaign with high profile KAMINEY (June). Before this, a smaller film KISSAN may release as well though one hasn't heard much about the project in the days gone by. After KAMINEY, it would be the arrival of Ram Gopal Varma's AGYAAT followed by Salman Khan's MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA (July). The same month will also see the arrival of a small film titled AAGE SE RIGHT which stars Shreyas Talpade in the lead.
August will carry on the momentum with Irrfan Khan starrer PAAN SINGH TOMAR. There will be a bigger movie though in the form of David Dhawan's HOOK YA CROOK which will release in September. The biggest of all though will be WHAT'S YOUR RASHEE (October) which will bring together Ashutosh Gowariker and UTV for the third time after SWADES and JODHAA AKBAR. Same month will see the release of SEASON GREETINGS which features an unusual cast of Sohail Khan, Tabu and Shreyas Talpade. November sounds interesting too with UTV and Rajeev Khandelwal coming together once again after AAMIR in PETER GAYA KAAM SE.
While this is the current plan of UTV for 2009, it won't be surprising if they acquire a movie or two more and come up with some additional releases. Stay tuned!
