Amrita Rao is tired telling all and sundry that she has moved out of HOOK YA CROOK a few light years back. Still, for some reasons unknown to her, she continues to get queries about her involvement with the project. And why not? When the project was announced more than a couple of years back, her name was sitting at the top of the credit details along with Siddharth.
''Arrey that was such a long time back. The film was sounded off to me years back and nothing accelerated after that'', says Amrita with a sigh, ''Moreover, there wasn't anything formal about me being a part of the movie as well. At that time the makers were looking at Siddharth and me.''
She insists that it was just an announcement at that time and that's about it.
''True, I didn't even get a proper narration at that time; I was just sounded off about the subject and my role'', remembers Amrita who was earlier seen this year in VICTORY, ''The project was then shelved for some reasons, though I don't have any clue about the reason behind that. May be the script was being worked upon of whatever. What I still wish to state for the records is that I am certainly not doing the film.''
The film's shooting has started though with quite a few changes in the film's cast. Siddharth is out while John Abraham is in. A masala movie with elements of thrills and romance merged with the subject of cricket, HOOK YA CROOK now stars Genenlia D' Souza as the leading lady (Vidya Balan too was considered for the role earlier on). Irrfan Khan, who was the first choice for the role of another interesting protagonist, has been replaced by Kay Kay Menon while Uday Chopra has made way for Shreyas Talpade.
The film is looking at an 18th September 2009 release.
