IQBAL and TAARE ZAMEEN PAR
Aamir Khan's directorial venture, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, has made its way into a National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) book. The much appreciated movie, on the sensitive subject of dyslexic children, has been included in the new textbook for 'Creative writing and translation', an elective subject for Class XI students.
The book titled, 'Srijan-1', which will be introduced from the coming academic year, also happens to be the first bilingual textbook (in Hindi and English) developed by the NCERT.
In the section on reviews, the book has reproduced the analyses of TAARE ZAMEEN PAR (as published in a Hindi daily) and Nagesh Kukunoor's National Award-winning movie IQBAL that portrays the story of a boy with different abilities, who dreams of finding a place in the Indian cricket team.
As per Prof. Ram Janma Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages at NCERT, who is also the chief coordinator of the development committee for this textbook, ''We have tried to use contemporary examples in the book. Movies influence children in a big way. So we have used the examples of movies that students can relate to.''
