If Sukhwinder Singh collected all the accolades for his Oscar winning number 'Jai Ho' from SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, his co-singer Vijay Prakash too is happy with all the recoginition he is getting. The voice behind the extended sound of 'Jai Ho' that reverberates throughout the song's duration, Vijay is happy that he isn't limiting himself to any set genre of music.
''Apart from playback singing, I am also a lot into classical singing'', says the young singer who is already an established name down South and has been making his presence felt in the Bollywood scheme of things, ''I regularly perform with renowned musician Taufiq Qureshi and have done a lot of fusion shows with him at various events and festivals.''
That's not all as Vijay has also enjoyed the privilege of collaborating with none other than Zakir Hussain.
''I have done some jamming sessions for Zakir Hussain and have also recorded for some jazz musicians who are friends with Zakir. Singing in such environment is also quite thrilling, entertaining and challenging in itself. Moreover, it allows me to do stuff different from my regular playback singing for films'', says Vijay who is now looking at some bigger assignments coming his way post the global success of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.
''Some more learning has come my way by working with Ranjit Barot. But now I am interested in doing something even different. Next on my list is experimenting with folk artists. I want to explore all genres across geographies. Yes, I am greedy but well, that's my passion for music and singing'', smiles Vijay, ''I don't have any intentions of stopping and feeling good about the work that I have already done. I want to keep moving on learn more about this art that has so much to offer.''
