Believe it or not but 8X10 TASVEER has turned out to be the only film that has managed some money flowing it's way in the week gone by. Not that the Akshay Kumar starrer has suddenly seen a revival of sorts that would make it crawl past the safety mark. It's just that multiplexes have no other choice but to allow an extended run to this Nagesh Kukunoor directed film which at least has a good face value attached to it.
In its fourth week in the running, 8X10 TASVEER fell by 50% and managed to get another 50 lakhs, hence managing to come near the 14 crores mark. In fact in spite of such meager collections in the week gone by, it was still the #1 running film of the week, courtesy no new films that have released for such a long time now.
Since the Friday gone by has yet again not seen any movie being released, 8X10 TASVEER may just about manage to add on a few more lakhs to its total. Nevertheless, its box office status still remains to be a disaster by all means considering the fact that this film carries the lowest Akshay Kumar total that one has seen for a long time!
Meanwhile other releases from the past have been complete disasters, as evidenced by a total crash evidenced by DASHAVATAR and MERI PADOSAN. In its second week, DASHAVATAR fell by around 70% and added a mere 30 lakhs to its kitty. At close to 1.5 crores, it is the biggest disaster that Kamal Hassan has suffered in the North belt of India. The other release MERI PADOSAN was hardly in the running and came up with unmentionable collections of less than 5 lakhs. Yet another huge non-performance of 2009.
