DANNY DENZONGPA and JIMMY SHERGILL

Ok, so we are not looking at a battle of the year this Friday! However, with scarcity of releases that Bollywood is facing for the last one month, any new movie arrival is worth a celebration. This Friday, amidst the stand off between producers and multiplexes that is still waiting to be resolved, we see two movies arriving in theatres - MUNDE UK DE and FROZEN.

Interestingly, while the former is a Punjabi film starring Jimmy Sheirgill in lead, latter is a Hindi film with fair dose of Ladakhi language and has Danny Denzongpa as the lead protagonist. However, none of the two films would have a simultaneous all India release. While FROZEN would arrive at select theatres in Mumbai, MUNDE UK DE is primarily for the Punjab belt, though up North a few theatres would be screening the film as well. Both movies will move to different cities depending upon the response that they gain from the target audience.

CHECK OUT: Jimmy Shergill - The rising superstar!

Would any of the two films reverse Bollywood fortune? Not really, mainly because FROZEN is made for niche audience and even the makers are aware that they are not looking at a horde of footfalls. A movie which has been making rounds of the festival circuits over last two years, FROZEN has been made in Black & White and should be a good experience for those searching for off beat cinema.

On the other hand MUNDE UK DE is a hit in the making, courtesy the man at the helm of direction, Manmohan Singh, who has an enviable record when it comes to Punjabi films. However, yet again, we are not looking at a pan-India blockbuster here since even the film doesn't aspire to be one and is primarily targeting the North of India and overseas market (UK, Canada, US and Australia).

Guess the wait would continue for a movie that would facilitate some all around revival of Bollywood fortunes.
