With the recently concluded 62nd Cannes Film Festival 2009 being much in news for having showcased critically acclaimed and newer genres of world movies, the Indian audience has a lot to look forward to in the coming months. PVR Pictures, the movie production and distribution arm of PVR Ltd, is busy setting up a slate of quality world cinema content including the highly acclaimed Pedro Almodovar's BROKEN EMBRACES, Ang Lee's TAKING WOODSTOCK, Alejandro Amenabar's AGORA, Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon's THE GREATEST, Heath Ledger and Johnny Depp's THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS to be released in India this year.
Some of the other releases confirmed include Mel Gibson's EDGE OF DARKNESS, Jennifer Aniston's TRAVELING and the much awaited animated movie 9 featuring the voices of Elijah Wood and Jennifer Connelly.
In the past one year, with movies like BURN AFTER READING, BLINDNESS, FLASHBACKS OF A FOOL, DEATH AT A FUNERAL, THE IRON MAIDEN FILM: FLIGHT 666 (India's first concert film to be released theatrically), PVR Pictures with its path breaking efforts has been instrumental in recognizing the need gap with respect to the demand and supply of discerning cinema and has successfully been able to contribute in developing the cinema viewing patterns by attracting a growing number of Indian audiences to appreciating new genres of movies.
