Imagine a first timer coming face to face with a living legend on the very first day of the shoot for her debut film. Sounds challenging, right? This is what happened to Jacqueline Fernandez who was in for a pleasant surprise when informed by director Sujoy Ghosh that her first talkie portion of the film would have her sharing the same frame as Amitabh Bachchan.
"Of course I knew that I had quite a few scenes with Mr. Bachchan. But I expected the shoot to start on a relatively easier note, considering ALADIN is my debut movie. Imagine the kind of surprise that was in store for me when I was told that I had to shoot for a talkie portion with him. I had done a few walking shots with him earlier but to mouth dialogues in front of him was something special", says Jacqueline who hails from Sri Lanka and had to brush up her Hindi on the job.
Naturally, she was a bag of nerves when she reported on the sets.
"I knew my lines well though. It was all up there and there was no hesitation whatsoever in terms of knowing what I had to say. Still, there is always a scare factor that what if I mess it up all? What if I am not able to stand up to Mr. Bachchan? Really, I was so nervous ", Jacqueline remembers.
As expected, she went on to do her job well and managed to get the scene rolling.
"This time around, it was the turn of Mr. Bachchan to be shocked", she laughs, "I had done my rehearsals and that paid. Sir just looked at Sujoy and exclaimed - 'Wow, she does know her job'. I was like - 'Thank God, I managed to crack it'. From there on, I wasn't conscious any more. I knew that I could perform and act. Obviously that line which I delivered is quite special to me. It can never be erased from my mind."
