Close to three decades back, Amitabh Bachchan had come up with a memorable performance in 'Jahan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai' [KAALIA- 1981]. Shot for a party sequence which also involved Amjad Khan, the song didn't just became a rage with the youth of that generation but has continued to regale the audiences of current times as well.
Since film maker Sujoy Ghosh has taken it upon himself to pay homage to Amitabh Bachchan's on-screen image in his soon-to-be-released ALADIN, there is a song and dance sequence that has been designed on the same lines as the KAALIA track. 'Tak Dhina Dhin' is the number in question which is all set to recreate the nostalgia from the past.
Informs a unit member, "A huge set was erected for the shooting of 'Tak Dhina Dhin' which is one of the most expensive songs ever shot. It includes Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandes along with dozens of background dancers."
Sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Shaan, the song also holds a special place in the heart of the film's leading lady. Reason being that this was the first song that she shot for.
"Imagine being a part of a full-on Bollywood extravaganza affair and match dance steps with none other than Amitabh Bachchan. I had to make sure that I didn't give Bachchan Sir or Riteish any pains by not getting my steps right. I had to be constantly on my toes. Pun intended", smiles Jacqueline.
Due to similar reasons, even Riteish was unsure if he would be able to dance to 'Tak Dhina Dhin'.
"Yes, they were nervous but that is bound to happen all the time, whether for dance sequences or the scenes, whenever there is Mr. Bachchan involved. His presence does give youngsters some jitters but in the end it's okay since they work extra hard to make sure that they give it all in their first shot itself. This is how veterans like Mr. Bachchan and Dutt saab add value to your project", says Sujoy Ghosh.
A co-production of Sunil Lulla from Eros International and Sujoy Ghosh's Boundscript, ALADIN is confirmed for worldwide release on 30th October.
