Debutant Soham Shah is ecstatic. In spite of no filmy background and minimal grooming, he has managed to impress audiences, critics and bigwigs of the industry with his very first film BAABARR. Opening to a generally good critical acclaim, BAABARR has turned out to be a surprise release over the weekend gone by with director Ashuu Trikha taking audience to the underworld of UP. While the film boasts of a huge ensemble cast boasting of a veteran like Mithun Chakraborty and a newbie Urvashi Sharma (NAQAAB fame), the man who has gained most is Soham.
Says the young man who unlike his on-screen dare devil persona is quite shy in real life, "It has been a dream like journey over the weekend gone by. I had worked hard on the film, stayed in the small towns of UP for 35 odd days before the shooting commenced and then just followed my director's instructions once on sets. Especially for my scenes with Mr. Mithun Chakraborty, I did a lot of rehearsals to get into the right 'sur'. And now when I am getting such positive all around response from across the country, especially the North Indian belt, I can't really believe it. All the appreciation is yet to sink in."
Buzz is that biggies like Anees Bazmee and Sudhir Mishra too congratulated Soham, who hails from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, for his bravura performance in the film.
"When film makers of their stature have to say good words about it, it is nothing short of getting a certificate", Soham is seen smiling here, something which is quite uncharacteristic if one compares this with the role of a rough-n-tough gangster that he played in BAABARR, "The feelers have been great so far and the most exciting part is that audiences too are giving the film a great response. After critics got this film noticed in spite of so much competition around, audiences are doing their bit by spreading some good word of mouth. For someone like me who doesn't have any Godfather in the film industry, what more could I have asked for."
