Masters of thriller genre, Abbas-Mustan, have surprisingly kept quite low key both before and after the release of their debut production LIFE PARTNER. The film had released alongside KAMINEY and the opening week entirely belonged to the Shahid Kapur starrer. However, the family theme of LIFE PARTNER worked for the audiences and from second week onwards, this Govinda-Tusshar Kapoor-Fardeen Khan starrer took charge.
Ever since then the film has been quite steady at the box office, something which has kept Abbas-Mustan smiling.
''Especially with the kind of opening that LIFE PARTNER took, it is commendable that it has stayed on this way for 6 straight weeks'', says Abbas, ''We were closely monitoring the film's collections during the opening weekend but never really lost hope. We knew that this was a film which belonged to word of mouth due to which we were holding on to it before arriving at a verdict.''
Well, 'junta' did ultimately give a verdict as the film showed very less drop in collections in subsequent weeks. In fact in the last couple of weeks, the film has shown very minimum drops and has collected even more than KAMINEY, its closest competitor.
''We are happy with the performance of LIFE PARTNER and would now be going full throttle with our productions'', Abbas declares, ''LIFE PARTNER was the first step for us. The lessons learnt from the film will further help us streamline the way we produce our future films.''
At last count, LIFE PARTNER has made over 21 crores only from India. With the DVD release round the corner, the film is expected to penetrate deeper into the family households and see a consistent audience response.
