He is the youngest amongst the bunch of actors who are sharing screen space in this Friday release TUM MILO TO SAHI. While this Kabir Sadanand film is being spearheaded by Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia, Rehan Khan also has a major role to play in the film. Along with Anjana Sukhani, he fills in the cast of this multi starrer that has Suneil Shetty and Vidya Malvade playing the middle aged couple. His first major release since AWARAPAN, Rehan is supremely confident that TUM MILO TO SAHI would be his calling card in Bollywood.
"Of course I am confident and that confidence comes from the various moments that have made this film", Rehan lights up here, "People ask me quite often whether TUM MILO TO SAHI is like LIFE IN A METRO. My answer is that it cannot be because it has been three years since the release of that film. Today, there are changed moments in real life scenario as well. Things have moved ahead."
On being asked to elaborate on the changed situation, Rehan says, "In LIFE IN A METRO, the episode involving Dharmendra had the elderly couple deciding to live all by themselves only towards the end of the film. In case of TMTS, the characters played by Nana and Dimple are full of life from the very beginning. Nana knows that he has to live life on his own terms and isn't dependent on anyone. Similarly there are changes in the lives of Suneil-Vidya and Anjana-myself as well."
Rehan also agrees that it was a conscious move on the part of director Kabir Sadanand to bring in three generation of actors.
"When Kabir (Sadanand) wrote the script, he always wanted the narrative to encompass meeting of mind, heart and soul. He knew a man goes through these stages at different point in lives. Once he sorted this out, he began casting. (Laughs) I was actually the first person to be cast in the film after a thorough audition. Perhaps he wanted to start with the youngest generation", laughs Rehan before signing off.
