Last Friday saw the release of Shyam Benegal's much awaited WELL DONE ABBA in India and as we had already predicted in one of our columns (WELL DONE ABBA: Boman's 'double' triumph after 3 IDIOTS), it was a Boman Irani show all the way.
Just like 3 IDIOTS, the audience as well the critics are elated with Boman's award worthy performance in this Shyam Benegal directed film. Some have even gone to the extent of proposing the highest honour for Boman, a National Award for his excellent portrayal in WELL DONE ABBA. And we second that!
The good news is that although WELL DONE ABBA had taken the expected slow start, the word of mouth is extremely encouraging and the shows that started on a slow note have showed an upward trend which is good signs for this small budgeted film. The pattern is quite similar to Benegal's last film WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR and trade is pleased at the decent performance of the film at the turnstile.
Well it is certainly good news for all concerned, and as for the audience they can already savour another class act by the master actor in HUM TUM AUR GHOST, which released along with WELL DONE ABBA.
