The numbers are in and as expected Dibakar Banerjee's third offering, LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA, emerged as the first choice of the film goers, despite stiff competition from Vikram Bhatt's SHAAPIT and the multiple award winning master piece, LAHORE.
The film also defied the IPL fever that has gripped the cricket crazy nation and has very good collections to show, especially from big cities and metros. Its shoe string budget of less than 2 crores already puts the film into the plus category, meaning that LSD has already started raking in the moolah for its lucky distributors. LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA has collected close to 6.60 crores from India in just its first week.
The fact that LSD has managed to defy all odds and emerged a success comes as no surprise to us as the film was carrying good hype in the trade circle and we had informed our patrons of that just a few weeks ago (Dibakar's LSD carrying very good reports!- February 23, 2010).
Well, the success is surely good news for the beleaguered film industry which has not seen many profitable ventures apart from ISHQIYA, ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? and the solo hit of the year, MY NAME IS KHAN. For the hugely talented director the success naturally means a completion of a hat trick with two path breaking cinematic successes in the form of KHOSLA KA GHOSLA and OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE!
Well we are already all ears waiting for Dibakar to announce his next!
