DUNNO Y... NA JAANE KYUN
Even though Bollywood started dealing with the subject of DOSTANA, it is the Sanjay Sharma-directed DUNNO Y... NA JAANE KYUN that will be a more serious attempt at portraying the cause. In that effect, the film, which is being touted as the Indian Brokeback Mountain, has been chosen to be screened at the closing ceremony of the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. The film stars Aryan Vaid, Maradona Rebello, Yuvraaj Parashar, Kapil Sharma, Zeenat Aman, Rituparna Sengupta and Helen.
The festival begins on April 22 and will screen the movie before its release on the 3rd of May. In India for the first time this festival is happening. 25 countries from Europe, US, South Asia are participating in this festival.
This is an important event for the makers of DUNNO Y... as the festival is attempted at sensitizing people towards the issues of homosexuals and the film has been chosen as part of the programme to mirror the realities of homosexuals. The festival will be screened at mainstream theatres to make 'homosexual culture' mainstream.
We're sure the cast and crew of the film are proud to be conferred with the honour of a historical moment in the film industry.
