In an industry which has been facing a big draught since 3 IDIOTS with the only other film managing to rake in good collections being MY NAME IS KHAN, all eyes are now set on Akshay's HOUSEFULL to bring Bollywood out of its two months long slump.
"One can never be too sure actually", says Akshay in a cautious tone, "So as usual, my head is sufficiently hanging humbly low and I am waiting for the final results now as the film arrives in theaters a few hours from now. Before that, it would be too early to begin celebrating. What's the point?
The fact remains though that ever since the promo of this Sajid Khan directed fare came on air, there has been an all around positive vibes around it. Considering the fact that in 2009, not even Akshay's relatively successful films like DE DANA DAN and KAMBAKKHT ISHQ fetched such encouraging response as far as promos is concerned, it must have lend a sense of relief to Akshay, right?
"Obviously, I am pleased that promos invoked positive response amongst people but then eventually it is a film which is remembered, not the promos", Akshay maintains his stance here, "I remember how everyone went mad when they caught the first glimpses of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA. People were calling me to say that they were dying to see the movie. Now look what happened there!"
He is happy though that Sajid Khan and Co. are pretty much confident about HOUSEFULL being one of the biggest blockbusters ever. While within his heart, Akshay knows that the film has turned out extremely well and would be lapped up by the masses, he is willing to pop the champagne only after gauging audience acceptance to the film this Friday.
"Till then, I am not counting my chickens before they hatch", signs off Akshay.
