Jimmy Sheirgill can't help but grin from ear to ear. His Punjabi film MEL KARADE RABBA has turned out to be an earth shattering blockbuster within a fortnight of its release. Despite the fact that it came along with biggie LAMHAA that had the star power of Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu, MEL KARADE RABBA has pushed all competition away and emerged a huge money spinner not just in Punjab but across the globe.
Says a trade follower, "The film is breaking all records from past and present in Punjab. Within a fortnight of its release, the film has netted over 3 crores which is a huge number considering the fact that market for Punjabi films is restricted to Punjab and Haryana. Moreover, theaters in which the film is running are mainly single screens so one can well imagine the number of tickets that are getting sold."
Starring Neeru Bajwa as the leading lady who recently made her Bollywood debut with PRINCE, MEL KARADE RABBA is directed by Navanit Singh who had earlier delivered a hit with Jimmy in TERA MERA KI RISHTA. The film's music is a big hit too and the investors have been laughing all the way to the bank.
"Looking at the phenomenon that MEL KARADE RABBA has become in Punjab, the saying amongst the distributors now is that kuch bhi ho sakta hai. What seemed like a big hit in the offing has now taken gargantuan proportions. There is just no stopping the film and the kind of whistles, claps and cheering which is happening inside the theaters is reminiscent of old times when long crowds thronged single screen theaters," says Jimmy who is stunned with the kind of response that the film has fetched.
The success of MEL KARADE RABBA makes it three in a row for Jimmy with his last two films TERE MERA KI RISHTA and MUNDE UK DE also turning out to be smash successes.
