Dia Mirza: I have to pick and choose the best now

Enough is enough for Dia Mirza. After an avalanche of films that she has done in the last three years (she has already been seen in a dozen odd films in this duration), Dia has decided to go slow. Disappointed with the death of films with good content, Dia believes that given the right opportunity, she could well have done wonders already.

'By going slow, I don't necessarily mean that now I wish to do only one film a year. The number could up but then the movie has to be something special. When I am putting so much effort in my act in front of the camera, it is fair to expect that there is enough effort in the writing as well. Is it too much to ask', questions Dia who has been around for a near decade now after debuting in REHNAA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN (2001).

While her solo release of the year, HUM TUM AUR GHOST, didn't work at the box office, 2009 was particularly bad with biggies (ACID FACTORY, KURBAAN), medium budgeted (JAI VEERU, KISAAN) as well as experimental films (FRUIT & NUT) going for a toss. No wonder, she rues the fact that time and again, it is the content which has been the spoilsport.

'When you are in the industry for a decade, you know what works', Dia gets into some straight talk here, 'This is the reason why it hurts when the content goes totally haywire. I still maintain that give me half the opportunity and I will do it all perfectly right. After all creativity is a very strong emotion and you need to have just the right outlet.'

With her ALIBAUG being shelved and Amitabh Bachchan starrer JOHNNY MASTANA stuck for a couple of years, Dia is now waiting for the best offers to come her way and her deciding factor would be strong content and a great role over anything else.

'That's right', reaffirms Dia, 'I am not getting into another project right away. In my mind, the question is - 'What next?' Right now in the industry, only a few films are being made. I have to pick and choose the best now. Period.'
