Industry is going through better times, courtesy the quality of films that has seen a reasonable improvements in the last few months. Movies like ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI, PEPLI LIVE, TERE BIN LADEN and UDAAN have managed to bring audience in theaters all over again. The script and able direction have turned out to be heroes and none less than Anees Bazmee is happy.
After all the fact remains that it wasn't too long ago when he was one of the very few film makers who was quite vocal about his stand for directors. He had maintained that just the presence of a top actor cannot result in a successful film. Does he continue to stick to that stand?
'I would quote the great Alfred Hitchcock here. He had said that in order to make a super hit film, there are three things which are required - script, script and script. A film may have a complete star who can fight, dance and romance. Still, what you need to take your film to a different level altogether is the script. If you have good actors and fantastic music but the script is missing, everything else becomes unimportant,' says Bazmee who has wrapped up a major portion of his film THANK YOU.
For someone who has the honour of having assisted Raj Kapoor, Bazmee has been a part of the industry for over three decades and is happy that actors have become far more conscious of better scripts.
'Whether it is a big or a small actor, everyone asks for a story and the script. Everyone understands that just being a star doesn't hold good anymore. This has been proven by some hyped biggies that have fallen in recent times,' Bazmee makes an obvious reference to RAAVAN and KITES here, 'Importance of a solid script has been re-emphasized yet again. This is why I am sure whether it is Akshay or Salman, no one minds when I say that story holds more importance than a star.'
