Farah Khan's Christmas extravaganza, TEES MAAR KHAN, may boast of top actors of Bollywood like Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, and despite being a lavishly mounted and a rich look film, it will come as a surprise to many that TMK is a controlled budgeted project. The film was completed at just the same cost (40-50 crore) that was initially planned before the commencement of the project. This was revealed by none other than the producer-director of TMK, Farah Khan, when speaking to the press about the budget and advantages of working for a home production venture.
Farah explained that though she made absolutely no compromises at all while making TEES MAAR KHAN yet there was no worthless expenditure or splurging. On a lighter note Farah added that her working as a home director also cut expenditure because if Shirish had gone out and hired a director then he would have certainly learnt how very difficult and expensive it is. Adding further that since she and her husband cover most of the areas of film making from choreography to writing dialogues, lyrics etc (in fact Shirish has eight credits in TMK), this also helped in keeping the budget of TEES MAAR KHAN in check as they did not have to hire anyone.
