Anushka Sharma has now delivered her third straight success in a row with BAND BAAJA BAARAAT bringing her smiles all over again after RAB NE BANA DI JODI and BADMAASH COMPANY. Most actors would have enhanced their PR drive by now after a hat trick of successes but not Anushka. Doesn't the pretty girl feel that she could possibly be loosing out a lot due to that?
"Honestly, mujhe yeh sab PR ki baatein samajh mein nahi aati hai", smiles Anushka, "Acting is a love that I have discovered very later in life and I don't want to dilute that feel by thinking much about the PR. Yes, after becoming an actor I have realised that this is the most exciting thing to do and I have that potential in me. Still, the way I treat myself is, by believing in me as a brand myself. Everything that I do should act as publicity to my brand. If that doesn't consist of PR, I am fine with it."
Still, perception amongst 'aam junta' is that though she is a spunky actress who pretty much reflects the girl of today, the industry in general is yet to wake up to her true potential.
"I completely agree and I will explain why there is this perception which has built up over a period of time", Anushka takes charge here, "See, this has to do with the fact that people just see me before and after my film. I am not coming in too many magazines and also I don't do too many ad films either. I only want to do the kind of work that I believe in and something that suits me."
And what exactly is that work?
"When it comes to films, I want to do the kind of roles where girls can relate to me", Anushka talks about her choices here, "This is why even the ads and brands that I do are massy and appeal to a definite target audience. I am purposely placing myself in those slots because this is who I am. People should stand up and say that 'Haan yaar, this girl is just like me'."
