Lot has been written, seen and heard about mutual admiration (or the lack of it) between Karan Johar and Ram Gopal Varma. Both film makers have been known for their unique brand of cinema. While Karan has mostly made family films and rom-coms, Ramu has been known for his gritty films. However, in the recent past Karan did try his hand at dark and edgy cinema with KURBAAN, which in spite of being a well made film didn't fare well at the box office. Now he is arriving with MY NAME IS KHAN which is again a departure from the kind of cinema that he is known for.

However, Karan has recently also stated that he would want his next film to be a light hearted affair with songs and dance galore. One wonders if a certain Ram Gopal Varma is smiling from a distant corner. Reason being that his love hate relationship with Karan Johar's 'colourful' cinema is much known all over.

"Really, I am not looking for anyone's approval", Karan doesn't allow any controversy to build up here, "We are over and above problems of each other and have evolved over a period of time. As of now, I am only looking forward to the release of my own film MY NAME IS KHAN."

Well, given the fact that Ramu's RANN (29th January) and Karan's MY NAME IS KHAN (12th February) are arriving within a fortnight of each other, it would only help both the film makers if there is indeed no 'battle' brewing in, both on and off the screen.
