SHOR (Noise) wins another award! The short feature film by directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK won Best Short Film at the recently concluded Pravasi Film Festival in New Delhi.

The Award is a welcome addition to the growing list collected by the film at the best short film festivals around the world! Directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK said, "This is a true independent film where just a handful of us got together without really any equipment or lights, in real locations, and shot the film all over Mumbai, in the streets, on the trains... SHOR has been gathering great reviews and winning awards from around the globe, but the fact that we have won this award in India makes it all the more special!"

Laurels for the directors' first Hindi feature film, 99, are still pouring in. Released in 2009, 99 was the first true hit of the summer and was No 1 at the box office three weeks in a row.

Indeed, the international buzz for their short film has been tremendous and unanimous. Sam Roberts, director, Slamdance Film Festival, said about SHOR, "A caustic but honestly humorous portrayal. The simplicity and innocence of the film stands in sharp contrast with its sumptuous and beautifully photographed setting."

IndieWIRE, the renowned film news and information monitor, reported that SHOR was one of the films that was hot at three of the world's biggest short film festivals and generated insider buzz at the Los Angeles Shorts Festival.

SHOR was shortlisted at Cannes 2008 and was the official entry at Slamdance Film Festival, Palmsprings International Film Festival, Los Angeles Shorts Festival and Raindance Film Festival, among others. The film won Best Short Film at the MIAAC Film Festival, New York (2009) and won Best Cinematography Award at the San Francisco International Festival of Shorts.

Interestingly, this short film stemmed from the script of a feature film of the same name, now in production. The film has a unique cast comprising Hollywood actor Sendhil Ramamurthy (of the famous television series Heroes and Gurinder Chadha's Sundance entry IT'S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE) in his first ever Hindi film along with talented Hindi film actors and Marathi theatre actors.

"This is a passion project for us. We believe it's a unique film and have managed to assemble a unique cast. The fact that the short has won awards only gives us more impetus for the feature. We have great expectations from this film," say Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
