For someone who has worked in only five Hindi films in her seven years long career, Genelia D'Souza is not doing too bad for herself. With a good enough success rate behind her, courtesy a super hit JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA, a hit in MASTI and three average successes in the form of LIFE PARTNER, MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP and her debut effort TUJHE MERI KASAM, she has managed to sail smooth in spite of being in the limelight primarily during last couple of years. However, Genelia is all set to announce her presence loud and clear in 2010, what with as many as three Hindi films of her lined up in quick succession - CHANCE PE DANCE, IT'S MY LIFE and HOOK YA CROOK. This is not all as her South career is continuing to flourish as well with at least a couple of movies in Tamil and Telugu in the wings. No wonder, she is happy to be choosing films and not the industry.

It was a four year long wait for her between MASTI and then JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA and MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP in Bollywood. And now she has a bountiful 2010 ahead beginning with CHANCE PE DANCE. Looks like some 'chance' factor working here. Genelia speaks straight forward, 'Few actors get a chance to bounce back in the film industry and I consider myself to be lucky for getting this chance. As an actor I was concentrating on doing good work regardless of the industry. This is when films from down South beckoned and I had a fruitful career out there. My movies do sell quite well there and have been doing well. Moreover, it was not just good roles that were coming my way; I was also gaining a lot of respect. I am sure that my South fans are really looking forward to my Hindi release CHANCE PE DANCE,'

Given the fact that the title itself indicates a fun theme, are we looking at an out and out entertainer in CHANCE PE DANCE?

Genelia divulges about her film, 'Well yes, this is a fun film for sure though there are some emotional moments as well. Of course there is a lot of music, fun, romance and dance but at the crux of it, CHANCE PE DANCE stays on to be a heart warming feel good musical entertainer. Shahid plays the role of a struggling actor who is quite good at dance while I am a choreographer. A 'chance' meeting brings the two of us together and from here begins a journey that sees quite a few trials and tribulations coming our way.'

For more than half a decade Genelia has been juggling between South as well as Bollywood industry and still getting some top assignments. In this aspect, she must be definitely considering herself lucky that she is getting chance to work with the likes of Anees Bazmee (IT'S MY LIFE), David Dhawan-John Abraham (HOOK YA CROOK) and Shahid Kapoor (CHANCE PE DANCE). 'Between South and North, there are some films which are out and out glamorous; a few are challenging me as an actor while a couple of them are a complete package affair where I get to look glamorous and also act. I am closely studying the kind of films that I want to do,' says Genelia in modest tone.

CHECK OUT: Genelia D'Souza says I didn't check what Jiah had done

With Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif pretty much patenting their 'jodi' and Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor being in news for one long year due to KURBAAN; it is good to see a fresh 'jodi' with her pairing up with Shahid. Buzz in the industry is that thankfully, there is something newer in the offing. Genelia accentuates the same, 'I know the reactions so far have been so good towards our pairing. People are indeed saying that the fresh 'jodi' of Shahid-Genelia is indeed looking good together. In fact I was personally shocked when the first look came out on net because it wasn't planned that way. Suddenly I started getting so many calls and messages and I was wondering that what had suddenly happened to all my friends and other people from the industry. It is then that I realized that the poster followed by a teaser was out. In fact I remember Ram (Mirchandani), who was working then with UTV, telling me that Shahid-Genelia is going to be one rock-star pairing. Ken too believed so. I was still biding time but now that the audience has also passed its verdict, I can see where they were coming from. They were right.'
