Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee recently conducted an open session with over 500 students at SIES College during their annual festival 'Frames', pertaining to his upcoming film LOVE, SEX AUR DHOKHA.
A 20 min edit of the film was shown to the students and the response varied from 'Awesome', to 'Hilarious' & 'Totally Different'.
In the session, various topics such as voyeurism, caste-ism, love marriages, the bollywood definition of love, & above all, sex, were discussed with a packed house. Findings were not only surprising but also shocking in some cases, where students felt 'IT WAS OK' to sleep your way up the corporate ladder!
Censorship was another big free wheeling chat where students agreed that the most natural form of pro creation is banned while killings & gory murders; the most unnatural occurrences are freely allowed! Students also got a taste of the title song of the film and were all raving for a 'Once More'!
The professors & the principal were hugely supportive and progressive in their behavior & outlook when Dibakar Banerjee explained what the film was about.
The icing on the cake was mid session; when unknown to Dibakar; the session was stopped mid way and the emcee announced that he had just won the National Award for his last film OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE. As expected; the crowds went ballistic and what followed were congratulations and then the session resumed.
A forum lasting over 150 minutes; was deeply inspiring by what the students had to say about the film & the ever changing youth life styles!!
