Trust Ram Gopal Varma to be the first amongst many to take a dig at himself. Even as one of his most 'serious' films ever - RANN - hits the screen tomorrow, Ramu can be found at his candid best. Rather than being hassled about the pre-release jitters and making any last minute arrangements, one can catch the film maker in a relaxed and jovial mood. Ever so willing to crack jokes at his own expense and continuing to churn out 2-3 films at an average every year, Ramu knows how to mix play with work.

So after popcorn cinema like AGYAAT, PHOONK and CONTRACT, can we expect the film maker to bring back the power of some of his best works like SARKAR, COMPANY and SATYA?

CHECK OUT: RANN is a men's film

"RANN may come across as an entertaining cinema but at the core of it, it has quite a few serious things to tell", says Ramu, "Rather than talking about whether RANN is really my best or worst film ever, let me share a comment which someone mentioned in a TV show. He said - 'We are waiting for a day when David Dhawan makes a serious film and Ram Gopal Varma makes a film seriously'."

On a parting note, Ramu says in jest, "I personally believe that it's a damn good statement because I guess in RANN, I have managed to fulfill this gentleman's wish!"

Well, with the film just hours away from release, we would certainly know for sure if the wish has indeed come true.
