Anurag Kashyap, who is co-producing the upcoming film UDAAN, said that its USP is that it doesn't star Aamir Khan. The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and UDAAN is about a young boy Rohan who is abandoned by his parents in a boarding school for eight years. The producer-director duo was present at a press conference to announce the results of an online survey sampling the youth of India.
UDAAN's USP is that it doesn't have Aamir Khan. You always complain that these days, films have a great star cast but no story. This film has a story, so you shouldn't complain."
Speaking about Aamir, Anurag said, "Aamir is doing an excellent job of taking out a year from his career and producing films like PEEPLI LIVE and DHOBI GHAAT. I have seen PEEPLI LIVE and it is a great film. But for filmmakers like us, there is a burden of expectations to take a star like him. Aamir is more liberated to let us experiment with his image. That burden of expectations kills the film."
UDAAN has won a lot of accolades at the Cannes Film Festival and is all set to release on July 16.
