After making an impression in the festival rounds, RED ALERT - THE WAR WITHIN has seen good critical acclaim coming its way even in India. Majority of critics have given the film a Thumbs Up and those who have seen the film in theaters have also given it a nod of approval due to its topical theme and hard hitting narrative. Obviously, director Ananth Mahadevan who has a half a dozen films to his credit is positive that he now wants to work further in telling stories that are sensible and come with a reason and purpose.
'I need to pull up my socks now', he smiles, 'After getting recognition for my work, I can't afford to do anything lesser. The film has an international appeal and relevance due to which it could strike a chord outside India as well. The way critics as well as audiences have warmed up to the film, it makes me quite hopeful that it would break further grounds across the globe."'
The film features Suneil Shetty as a cook, who desperately needs money to fund the education of his children. He finds himself in the midst of Naxalites where his mission becomes a mere subset of a greater cause that the militant's pursue.
Ananth adds, "Me as well as my producers (TP Aggarwal and Rahul Aggarwal) understand that from this film, we are not aiming at making pot loads of money. What we want is making a reputation for Indian cinema and tell the world that even we can explore subjects like these."
