Frankly, one can't remember when was the last time such a star studded Bollywood affair had hit the screens. Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar are veteran actors to vouch for. Ajay Devgn and Arjun Rampal are two contrasting actors who can set the screen ablaze. Manoj Bajpai is in the league of his own while Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are youngsters who are clearly ready to rule for an entire decade to come. One wonders whether film maker Prakash Jha planned it all out pretty much in advance when he was writing RAAJNEETI.
"How could that be the case; I have been writing RAAJNEETI for 5 years. Some of the actors that you mention weren't even around then", says Jha for whom RAJNEETI is his biggest film till date, "I don't think of stars while writing a film. An actor who comes into my film has to stand up and deliver, whether he/she has been a star till then or not. Same holds good for Ranbir and Katrina as well. They were cast much later and they came in because they fit into the film well."
Does the presence of Ranbir and Katrina shift the focus towards them? Or do we have someone else, say Ajay Devgn, who could be considered as a central protagonist in RAAJNEETI?
"It won't be justified if one character is picked and touted as the most important in the story", says Jha for whom Ajay has been a constant fixture in his films, whether it is APAHARAN, GANGAAJAL or DIL KYA KARE, "In RAAJNEETI, each of the characters has his or her own space. All of them are important and central to the film."
