While Imran Khan plays the central protagonist in I HATE LUV STORYS who doesn't quite believe in love which is conveyed through the world of Bollywood, he also admits that love stories in today's generation have actually moved on from what they used to be a decade back.

"Honestly, the concept of a love story is something that people will enjoy once they see what (director) Punit had brought to screen through I HATE LUV STORYS", Imran says confidently, "We have to change with the times. If one looks at the love stories from the world of 80s and 90s, the problems and barriers used to be from external forces. Most often, these barriers would be because parents didn't allow kids to get together."

"However nowadays, the barriers are internal", he continues, "My character feels that there is no such thing as love, especially the kind that is shown in Bollywood. That's the reason why the focus is on real relationships and issues. Having said that, the intrinsic style of Bollywood film making i.e. songs and dances have been maintained. But yes, the content has indeed changed with the times. Punit has got it all right"

Other than Imran, Punit sees support coming from Karan as well as far the basic idea and the execution of I HATE LUV STORYS is concerned.

"Punit has come up with a product which is very audience friendly", says Karan who has continued to launch the career of many of his erstwhile assistants, case in point being Tarun Mansukhani (DOSTANA), Ayan Mukerjee (WAKE UP SID), Soham Shah (KAAL) and Nikhil Advani (KAL HO NA HO), "He is someone who has assisted me since the days of KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM to KABHI ALVIDAA NAA KEHNA. In fact he also helped Tarun during the last leg of DOSTANA. He wrote I HATE LUV STORYS and once I read it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. All I told Punit was that let's go for it."
