With 20 years of experience as an actor and 90 odd films behind him; can't be expected to hold a diplomatic stance. Known for calling a spade a spade and being supremely confident about his placement in the industry, Ajay understands the value that he adds on to a film. This is the reason why despite RAAJNEETI being a multi starrer, he didn't hesitate stepping in once director Prakash Jha assured him that his presence would be justified despite a crowd of actors.
"Even I had this at the back of the mind that because there were so many characters in the film, does Prakash Jha really require me", reveals Ajay who has worked with the film maker thrice before - APAHARAN, GANGAJAL and DIL KYA KARE, "This is why when he narrated the idea of RAAJNEETI to me, I only had one question from him - 'Should I do this film?'. He said yes. I again asked him whether he was really sure that he wanted me to which he replied that yes, my presence would be justified. Once he confirmed twice, I didn't ask him any further questions; I was on for the film".
Considering the fact that each of his earlier films with Jha has been a solo starrer whereas RAAJNEETI is a multi star cast affair, is Ajay throwing any hint with regard to his presence in the film?
"No, I am not giving any hints here", immediately responds Ajay, "As I said, once I came on board, it was entirely up to Jha on how does he justify my presence in RAAJNEETI. In any case, there is no hero or heroine in the film. Moreover, this is my fourth film with Jha and I understand his working style. We are friends before anything else and share a great rapport."
He is happy with the way the film has performed at the box office.
"Well, the film is far more commercial than the last two films that I did with Jha - GANGAAJAL and APAHARAN", says Ajay, "RAAJNEETI is a far bigger film with lot of drama and action. Also, it has indeed been moulded well from commercial standpoint. I was positive that RAAJNEETI will do quite well in theaters."
