Over the period of time, Abhay Deol has been known for working in niche medium budget movies. However, with biggies like AISHA (with Sonam Kapoor) and ZINDAGI NAA MILEGI DOBARA (Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar) next in line, one definitely waits to see how Abhay caters to a larger audience.

"I know I am good for big films as well. Give me an exciting racy thriller and I will do it. However, these films should not be big just for the sake of it. They can't be all style and technique with big canvas and the works. No, not at all. Instead, these should be high on content as well. I want to do bigger cinema but then for that you need big money also naa! For that, I need to have that support from within the industry so that things get bigger and better from here. Do I see a change happening? Certainly yes. Of course it is slow but this change is happening, the support is coming in", says Abhay in a hopeful tone.

In his quest to do so, it pretty much appears that Abhay has carved a niche for himself. Sentiments amongst the paying public is that when one steps in to watch an Abhay Deol movie, rest assured it won't be run of the mill. His recent release ROAD, MOVIE is an example of that which may have fetched extreme reactions from audience, trade and industry. However, not many can challenge the fact that the film was yet another attempt at doing something which has never been tried (at least in Bollywood) over decades gone by.

"Well, if you really want to slot my movies as 'my kind of movies' then that's very sweet of you", Abhay brings on a smile here, "If my movies are being seen with a certain set perception or expectation then that's great. Having said that, honestly speaking, I don't think there can be a genre attached to a particular actor. It is an individualistic style of an actor and yes, I do have my own way to approach a character and perform."
