BIG Cinemas, a division of Reliance MediaWorks and member of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, announced today that it will release and market the theatrical screening rights of RAAVANAN, a feature film in the Indian regional language of Tamil and its Telegu dubbed version VILLIAN, in the USA. Produced, written and directed by ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam, The film stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles - will be released on more than 40 screens across 30 cities in Tamil and Telegu across the USA, including self-owned BIG Cinemas' theatres, making it one of the biggest releases for a South Indian film in US.
Raavanan fuses drama, action, love and music. The film has been shot in scenic locations from the forests of Kerala, Ooty, Jhansi, Kolkata, and in Maharashtra at Mahabaleshwari and in the Malshej Ghats. The movie's music composed by two-time Academy Award winner A R Rahman, popularly known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music. Cinematography is done by Santosh Shivan and Manikandan, and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. The movie is releasing worldwide on June 18, 2010.
